Heated Driveways -Electric

Electric snow melting systems by Radiant Solutions are the perfect way to eliminate snow and ice from your driveways, stairs, and walkways. Our electric heating elements are designed to be installed in new concrete, asphalt, or under pavers. Our low voltage heating cable can also be installed in existing asphalt and concrete eliminating the need to tear out an existing surface.

Why Electric

Heated Driveways
Heated driveways were previously available only to the wealthy. Modern snow melting systems, such as a low voltage ice melt system, make a heated driveway much more affordable. Many are finding that a custom designed heated driveway system can help save on installation and operation costs by providing heat only in the areas of a driveway that are necessary.

Commercial Ice Melt Systems
Liability and labor savings are the two biggest reasons businesses are installing radiant ice melt systems in their facilities. Stores, hotels, mass transit stations and even airports utilize radiant technology to manage the risk of injuries that occur due to the presence of ice and snow on their properties. An automated ice melt system melts the snow as it falls, regardless of the time of day, insuring your customers can enter and exit safely without the expenses associated with a 24 hour maintenance crew. The operation costs are also surprisingly low. Other applications include loading docks, high traffic areas between buildings, car and truck washes, wheelchair ramps, stairs and sidewalks.

How It Works
A radiant ice melt system functions by installing one of our radiant heating elements into concrete, asphalt or in a sand bed under your driveway. The heating element then transfers its heat into the driveway bringing it up to snow melting temperatures. The system is automated and senses both temperature and moisture before turning itself on or off. These systems can be installed in stairs, ramps and walkways as well.

Existing Driveways
Modern ice melt systems can also be retro fit into an existing driveway. This is done by cutting into asphalt or concrete, installing our heating element, and sealing over the grooves. The installation of a retro fit radiant snow melting system is a great alternative to tearing out an entire driveway.

Design
Like all radiant heating systems, proper design is critical to success. Many have purchased snow melting systems from companies who do not do design and their customers are disappointed with the results. Keep in mind that no two climates are exactly the same. During the design phase, our staff will research the weather patterns, temperatures, and snow loads in your area, and design a system to function specifically for you.
