When most consumers figure out that they have an issue with snow and ice on their driveway, its too late. Most people assume that to install a heate driveway requires complete removal of existing concrete or asphalt. Radiant Solutions has the perfect product if you find yourself in that catagory.
Low Voltage Heating Cable
Radiant Solutions low voltage heating cable can be installed in existing concrete and asphalt by cutting 1" deep, 1/4 inch wide groove on 4-6"centers in the areas to be heated. The cable is installed in the grooves and a sealant, slurry coat or more asphalt is then placed on top of the grooves.
How To Install A Retro Fit Heated Driveway
    |
| Step 1 |
|
| |
Measure the length and width of the areas to be heated and make a faxable drawing. Fax the drawing to Radiant Solutions at 866-428-3708. We will then help you determine the areas to be heated. |
| Step 2 |
|
 |
Using a tape and a chalk line, mark your driveway in the areas to be saw cut. Water proof the lines so they can be followed by the cutting machine. The cuts will be 1" deep and 1/4" wide. Call several concrete cutting companies to search for the best price. Cut and clean the lines making sure the bottom of the cuts are dry and have no sharp edges. |
| Step 3 |
|
|
 |
As designed by Radiant Solutions, install the heating cable. The cable may be held down by 3/8" backer rod available upon request. Crimp and solder the cold leads to the heating element most likely near the garage. Seal the cable with caulking and or a new layer of asphalt. |
| Step 4 |
|
 |
Make all of the electrica connections including the line voltage input (typically 240 V. 30 Amp breaker) to the control box and transformer. Connect activation wires to the control box and cold leads to the transformer. |
| Step 5 |
|
 |
Tune in your system and complete the other start up procedures by running the tests as described in the install manual. Be sure to install the snow sensor in a whether exposed location. |
How Much Does It Cost To Operate?
Operation costs for a heated driveway depend greatly on the type of activation device used. Radiant Solutions heated driveways always include an automatic snow detector and a manual turn on switch to control your system. This means your system will turn on and off on its own as needed, leaving you to enjoy your winter mornings in the warmth of your home. |

Design
Like all radiant heating systems, proper design is critical to success.
Many have purchased snow melting systems from companies who do
not do design and their customers are disappointed with the results.
Keep in mind that no two climates are exactly the same. During
the
design phase, our staff will research the weather patterns, temperatures,
and snow loads in your area, and design a system to function specifically
for you.
